Introducing Japanese Autum holidays

I will also introduce Japan’s holiday this time. This time is Autumn holidays.

Holidays of Autumn

Autumn is from September to November. For articles about summer holiday please check the following.

Holidays of September

  • Sep. 17
    “Keirou no hi” It is called the Respect for the Aged Day and Seniors’ Day. In Japan, there is a holiday where we show respect for the elderly. It is close to the meaning of “National Grandparents Day” in America.

  • Sep. 23
    “Shuubun no hi” It is called the Autumnal Equinox Day. Around the autumn equinox, the length of day and night is about the same.

  • Sep. 24
    Transfer holiday on Sep. 23. In Japan, there is a system to look back on Monday the following day if the public holiday comes to Sunday.

Holidays of October

  • Oct. 8
    “Taiiku no hi” It is called the National Sports Day. Its purpose is to promote health and well-being through sports.

Holidays of November

  • Nov. 3
    “Bunka no hi” It is called the Culture Day. This day is dedicated to “the love of freedom, peace and the promotion of culture”.

  • Nov. 23
    “Kinrou kansha no hi” It is called the Labor Thanksgiving Day. It is close to the meaning of “Thanksgiving Day” in America.

Next time is Winter. It is the end of the four seasons in Japan.
