Introducing Japanese Spring holidays

This time I will introduce Japanese holidays.

Holidays of Spring

At first,it is holidays of spring. Spring is from March to May.

Holidays of March

  • Mar. 21
    “Shunbun no hi” It is called the vernal equinox day. Often it is said that the length of day and night will be the same. But actually the length of day is longer than night.

Holidays of April

  • Apr. 29
    “Shouwa no hi” It is called the Showa day. This day is birthday of Emperor Showa. It is a day constituting a large continuous vacation called GW(Golden week).

Holidays of May

  • May. 3
    “Kenpou kinen bi” It is called the Constitution Memorial Day. It was enacted in commemoration of the enforcement of the Constitution of Japan. It is a holiday one day that makes up GW.

  • May. 4
    “Midori no hi” It is called the Greenery Day. Originally it was not a holiday, but due to amendment of the law it became a holiday. It is a holiday one day that makes up GW.

  • May. 5
    “Kodomo no hi” It is a day that I hope for a healthy growth of a boy named “Tango no sekku”. It is a holiday one day that makes up GW.

Next time I will introduce the holidays of summer.
